The electric transportation revolution
First ever totally smoke free school bus
The first 100% electric school bus is now running in the Kings Canyon District, California. The vehicle uses a Motiv Power System electric propulsion engine installed on a Ford E450 chassis, with an 80-100 miles range and a capacity of 25 students (or 18 students + a wheel chair).
This bus is twice as expensive as a similar gas driven one. Nevertheless, Jim Castelaz, founder of Motiv Power Systems, explains how it is more economic in the long run: the cost of the power recharging is 1/8 as much to fuel and maintenance is also much cheaper.
The revolution has started and I can’t wait to see more; imagine cities like Delhi, Shanghai or Cairo with only smoke free vehicles!
